PARTIAL LOCKDOWN DECISION AND NEW RESTRICTIONS TO COMBAT WITH THE SPREADING EFFECTS OF COVID-19 PANDEMIC
As you are aware, the curfew which was currently in effect, was being imposed between 9 p.m. until 5 a.m on weekdays, pursuant to the previous Circular of the Ministry of Interiors dated 1 December 2020.
As per the decision of the Presidency Cabinet dated 13 April 2021, it was decided to to extend the current curfew hours and to impose new restrictions in order to slow down the spread of the Coronavirus disease, effective for two weeks, until 28 April 2021.
Please kindly note that in case the desired results are not reached recovery wise, at the end of the two week period, stricter restrictions will be imposed.
Following the decision of the Presidency Cabinet, the Ministry of Interiors have circulated its public mandate titled “Partial Lockdown Circular Sent to 81 Provincial Governorships” dated 14 April 2021, whereby it is declared:
- the weekend-long curfew will start as from 7 p.m. on 16 April 2021 and will continue until 5 a.m. on 19 April 2021 which will be valid for the upcoming weekends as well until further notice.
- the weekday curfew will start as of 14 April 2021 and will be valid between the hours 7 p.m. and 5 a.m.
In addition to curfews, a number of other precautions as stated below have been taken as well:
- In order to comply with the curfews, the working hours of all workplaces(except those with an exception) will be determined between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m.on weekdays.
- Non-governmental organizations, professional organizations in the nature of public institutions and their superior organizations, unions and cooperatives will not be allowed to participate in any kind of activities with broad participation, including the general assembly mettings, until 17 May 2021.
- We kindly remind you he possibility that the stores will be closing at around 6 p.m. since the curfew starts at 7 p.m.
- Intercity travels of our citizens will not be allowed except for public transportation during the curfew (weekdays and weekends), except for mandatory situations.
- Groceries, butchers, and supermarkets will offer service between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. during the weekend curfews.
- Restaurants and cafes will not accept customers in the interior or exterior areas of the workplaces until 16 May 2021, 12 p.m. and will operate on a delivery-only basis.
- Gyms, swimming pools and beauty salons will suspend their activites until 17 May 2021.
- People 18 years old and younger will be able to go out between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m., and seniors 65 and older will be able to go out between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on weekdays, both are barred from using public transportation.
- Educational institutions, except for 8th and 12th grades and pre-school education institutions, will continue their activities with distance education.
- Engagement and wedding ceremonies will be suspended until 17 May 2021.
