PRECAUTIONS TO BE TAKEN AT THE WORKPLACES AGAINST COVID-19 ANNOUNCED BY THE MINISTRY OF LABOR

Turkish Family, Labor and Social Services Ministry’s General Directorate of

Occupational Health and Safety recently published a Guide About the Precautions that should be taken in the workplaces Against the Covid-19. You may have access to the list of precautions (in Turkish) through the following link:

The Ministry has also published a Frequently Asked List in this respect for the Employers’ attention, whereby the Ministry has explained the necessary precautions that should be taken in the workplaces in the fight against the Covid-19 and clarified some question marks about the subject matter. The Ministry also declared that in case the Employer shall not take the necessary precautions at the workplace, for the protection of the employees’ health against the Covid-19 disease, the Employer shall be subject to administrative fines.

Currently, your workplace may be temporarily closed and the employees may be working remotely. However, before your workplace re-starts to its activities and your employees are back to their workplaces, it would be advisable to contact with (i) your Company’s occupational health and safety advisor (if any), (ii) your workplace’s occupational health and safety committee (if such committee is established mandatorily as per the relevant regulation applicable to your workplace) so as to take the necessary precautions at the workplace in compliance with the above-mentioned Guide. If there is no committee at your workplace, as employer or representative of employer (in Turkish, “işveren vekili”), you shall ensure that these precautions, among others as per the ones announced by the Labor Ministry, Ministry of Health and the World Health Organization, are duly taken at your workplace.

The Guide has listed the precautions envisaged by the Labor Ministry under the following titles:

  1. Establishment of the Competent Team at the Workplace and Assignment of Duties to the Team
  2. Preparation of the Emergency Plan and Risk Evaluation
  3. Precautions related to the Prevention of Spread of the Epidemic disease
  4. Precautions related to the Cleanliness and Hygiene
  5. Guidance regarding Personal Protective Equipment
  6. Steps to be Followed in the Event Where an Individual in the Workplace is Suspected or Confirmed to be Infected by Covid-19
  7. Recommendations regarding Business Trips and Meetings
  8. Notifications to be made in case of Non-Attendance to Work due to the disease.

Apart from this, we would like to inform you that the teleworking period of our Law Firm, implemented since March 18, 2020, has been extended until May 11, 2020. As notified in our previous announcement, all possible precautions to continue our legal services have been taken and we have full access to our e-mails and our files through the necessary IT system and we are ready for duly meeting all possible legal assistance needs of our valuable clients. The notarial offices continue their work on alternate days within the week and will not be working on weekends.
