SIGNIFICANT DECISION BY MINISTRY OF HEALTH FOLLOWING COVID-19 VACCINATION

We would like to inform you that according to the newly updated “Contact Tracking, Pandemic Management, Patient Monitoring and Filiation at Home” guide of the Ministry of Health; quarantine rules shall be eased for individuals who have had at least two (2) doses of vaccine or who have had Covid-19 in the last 6 months, when in contact with a positively diagnosed person with Covid -19.

What’s New?

  • Implementation of close contact (in Turkish, “yakın temaslı uygulaması”) for the individuals who had at least two (2) doses of vaccine (fulfilling the vaccination requirement of the Ministry of Health) or those who have been infected in the last six (6) months when comes to contact with an infected person;
  • Isolation practices (in Turkish, “izolasyon uygulaması”) with those whose PCR tests resulted positive with variant strains.
Accordingly, by complying with protective measures (i.e. use of masks, social distance, hygiene at work place) the individuals (employees at work places) with two (2) doses of vaccine can continue their normal daily lives/ working. Their HES code (in Turkish, “Hayat Eve Sığar”) will not be read as “risky” on HES system but will be recorded as “in contact” in the Case Tracking Module (in Turkish, “vaka takip modülü”).

A PCR test will be required only when an individual/ employee develops certain symptoms or only on the 5th day of the contact, in the absence of symptoms. If they do not have a PCR test on the 6th day of the contact, the relevant individual/ employee’s HES code will appear as “risky” and only then such an individual/ employee will be subject to quarantine rules.

However, if the PCR test result is negative, its registration in the system will be terminated on the 6th day, their HES code will not appear as “risky” and the quarantine will not be required.

In this regard, please kindly be informed that employees in contact will have to come to work and the employer’s responsibility for supervising and monitoring duty will be heavier in that respect. In addition, as there is no more automatic risk status and mandatory quarantine requirement, hence the importance of the HES code becomes evident.
