REARRANGEMENT OF QUARANTINE PERIOD FOR COVID-19 PATIENTS IN TURKEY

Following the significant increase in Covid-19 cases in Turkey due to the spread of Omicron variant, the Scientific Advisory Board of the Ministry of Health has reconvened and adopted several decisions regarding the rearrangement of quarantine rules for Covid-19 patients in Turkey.

Accordingly, within the scope of the written statement published by the Ministry of Health on 5 January 2022, the quarantine period for people who have tested positive for Covid-19 has been reduced to 7 days from 14 days. In this respect, for Covid-19 patients who show mild or no symptoms following the 7th day of being tested positive, the quarantine period will automatically end without the requirement of being tested for Covid-19 once again.

Additionally, it is also decided that Covid-19 positive cases whose test results return negative on the 5th day of their quarantine period will be allowed to end their isolation.

Contacted persons, on the other hand, will not be forced to be quarantined if they have got the booster shot vaccine (reminder dose) or have had tested positive for Covid-19 in the last 3 months. As per the explanations of the Ministry of Health in this respect, it is sufficient for them to continue their daily lives by paying the utmost attention to the use of protective masks as well as by following their symptoms, if any.

The Minister of Health also emphasized the importance of wearing protective masks, adhering to social distancing and following hygiene rules, as well as the booster shots for protection against Covid-19, which allegedly provides mild illness even infected.
