REGULATION ON THE AMENDMENT OF THE PRICE TAG REGULATION
The Regulation on the Amendment of the Price Tag Regulation has been published in Turkish
Official Gazette dated 18 September 2018 and it shall enter into force on 4 October 2018.
The below mentioned amendments have been made to the Regulation on the Price Tag published in the Official Gazette dated 28 June 2014 (the “Price Tag Regulation”).
The products put on the retail market shall bear tags disclosing the sales price to be paid by the consumers (comprising all taxes), the unit price, the place of manufacture and the distinctive features of the product; in cases where the tag placement is not possible, the list disclosing the said information shall be hung to the appropriate places in a manner to be easily visible and legible.
On the tags and the lists; the below information shall be indicated:
- production place of the product,
- distinctive features,
- sales price comprising all taxes,
- unit price,
- date of implementation of the sales price and the unit price (as per the amendments made to article 5 of the Price Tag Regulation),
- (if any) figure, logo or sign determined and announced by the Ministry for the products having been manufactured in Turkey (as per the amendments made to article 5 of the Price Tag Regulation).
On the labels of imported products; the name of the country where the product is manufactured shall be indicated in Turkish, the sales prices shall be stated as ‘Turkish Lira’, ‘TL’ or by the symbol.
Labels that shall be placed on the products put in market shall be placed on the product or on
the groups or the shelves of the same product, sewed, stapled, glued, attached or hung via an appropriate string as per the nature of the product, the width of the place where it is put on sale, and the commercial customs.
As per the amendments made to article 9 of the Price Tag Regulation; the numbers and letters on the labels, tariffs and price lists shall be legible, neat, complete, right, large enough and shall not create confusion with other numbers, words and signs, and shall not contain misleading and deceptive information. The labels shall be placed in a manner to be visible, legible and identifiable in terms of to which product they belong.
Finally, kindly note that (i) in case of difference between the sales price of the product and the cashpoint price, the price in favor of the consumer shall apply, (ii) the sales price of the goods or services subject to discount, shall be indicated along with the price prior to the discount on the tariffs and price lists and tags and (iii) the discounted sales price is indicated together and using the same font size with the pre-discount sales price.
